About this deal

The rubberwood construction means the handle does not succumb to heat as you peel the pizza off, making your pizza extraction process safe. That is, of course, not to say that these burners aren't powerful — it may be necessary to turn the burners down to manage the overall temperature of the oven.

When you too much buildup on the surface of your base stone, simply remove the metal screws which hold the stones supports in place, flip the base stone over horizontally (ensuring that the front edge of the stone lines up with the front edge of the housing, leaving a 1 1/2" vent in the back of the oven) and replace the stone supports and screws. They also provide an excellent level of insulation, which all but eliminates any required reheat time in between pizzas, allowing you to turn out rounds of pies with ease. In terms of accessibility, the forgiveness of a slightly slower cook rate combined with the overall ease of firing makes the BakerStone one of the most approachable options for novice cooks. The narrow opening and compact cooking area did a great job of retaining heat between the oven’s five pizza stones (one on each side), though. As mentioned above, the outer U-shaped burner drives the convective heat transfer through an opening in the back — a design concept that draws heavily on the heat transfer of a wood-fired oven: from the back, over the pizza, and out the open front.We discussed the ability of the oven housing to deliver conductive heat to cook the bottom crust and radiative heat to the upper crust, but that is only two-thirds of the total equation. Here, we try out baking a breakfast pizza that has been pre-baked, and is now going back in to fry the eggs on top. However, the weight and bulk of this oven may be a deal-breaker for some, and if you are willing to spend a bit more, there are some options out there that are marginally better. No offer to resolve the fact that their product is not usable without the assembly hardware required per their instructions.

But Bakerstone really reduces the practice time and waste and makes both Neapolitan and Roman style pies in less than 5 minutes! Although this may not seem very stable, it didn’t move around during cooking, and not attaching it makes for easy removal if you’d like to use the pizza box on a grill. I have only found one that really improves upon the process: Bakerstone’s enamel coated Original O-AHXXX-O-000 Grill Pizza Oven and the Professional Series Stainless Steel Pizza Oven Box. You slip the pie onto the bottom stone (you need to get plenty of flour or cornmeal under the dough and practice the flick of the wrist that pulls the wooden peel out from under the pie) and watch.Finally giving up the idea of having a wood burning oven, i purchased a BakerStone online from Costco a few months ago. Used over my charcoal barbecue, heats up really quickly when fired with a mixture of charcoal and sortwood kindling.
