About this deal

Or something else weird happened but we’ll never know because he offers absolutely no meaningful explanation for how or why he ended up in, survived or left this situation. The integration of a human in the lives of the deer is a study of patience, trust and wisdom - for both the human and the roe deer. Yet one suspects this is the only kind of testimony that could come from someone who has, in many ways, eschewed the human world.

Deer Man is the incredible memoir of a man who spent 7 years living with roe deer in the forests of France. However, the author anthropomorphizes the animals and projects very human feelings and motivations onto the animals, while simultaneously speaking as though human activity is almost always “bad”. He said a couple of times that he didn’t want to anthropomorphise the deer, but continued to do so (“she was proud” etc) which I found slightly annoying. He knows he can stay in the forest and die with his friends – or he can leave, and speak their truth to a human world that desperately needs to hear it. This book was fantastical, heartwarming, (and at moments, heartbreaking), informative (but not in a dense way) and un-put-down-able.

I was really fascinated with this true story of a young Frenchman from Normandy who lived in the woods for 7 years with deer. This is actually living full-time outdoors, as part of a group of roe deer in the forests of France.

A story of extraordinary power and tenderness, showing that intimate relationship with the wild world and the wild self is both possible and vital. Car Delorme explique bien que la sélection naturelle fonctionne très bien, que même s’il n’y a pas de chasse, il n’y aura pas trop de chevreuils. It was a fascinating look into his experiences, living as one with nature, and gaining the trust of the forest animals.A moment later, he lifts his head slightly, yawns, looking at me, then rests it against my thigh, near my hand. Transmite en el lector la conexión que siente con la naturaleza y te hace desprenderte de una falsa humanidad.

Vi läsare får veta allt om rådjurens parningstid, kost, sovtider, flockmentalitet och rörelsemönster. Another contraction, then another, when, all of a sudden, out comes the young fawn, falling to the ground: bam! I recently read and devoured Geoffroy Delorme's Deer Man: Seven Years of Living in the Wild, which now ranks among the best books in this genre that I've read in ages. They are individuals with individual personalities who decide (individually) to let him into their company after they each have time to see what he’s about. In this report, a man named Kyle Heying was out with his friend photographing the night sky when a number of wild animals, including both elk and bison, rushed past, giving off the impression that they were attempting to escape from something lurking in the nearby forest.Delome’s writing style requires you to lean on your experience of nature and supplement it with empathy for a species of animal we often dismiss as of non-value to study.
