About this deal

SPECIAL OFFER: For a limited time, Roland is offering three free months of access to Skoove - an online learning platform. This action stands out from the crowd with individual key weights and escapement for fast key repetition. And with its easy-to-transport weight and Bluetooth connectivity for lessons and play-along audio, it’s an ideal choice for any pianist who wants to develop their skills or perform at small events.

So because I have no interest in learning a bunch of key combinations for this review, I will be using the “Roland Piano App” on my iPad to select voices, and make other settings changes in my videos. The original FP-30 is 5 years old at this point, and it’ll be important to see if its updated counterpart brings anything new to the table. So anyways, that pretty much rounds out my review on the Roland FP-30X, I hope you found this review to be helpful.

If your musical lifestyle takes you all over the map, you’re supported with a comprehensive selection of onboard sounds, from pro-level electric pianos to strings, organs, synthesizers, and more.I know I haven’t actually seen one of these yet, but I have a feeling the FP-E50 is going to do EXTREMELY well; I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Prior models only included basic Bluetooth MIDI functionality, so I was excited to see what extra functionality this enables. They both have “not very good” user interfaces that rely heavily on function key combinations, and the apps for both pianos really aren’t the greatest, but the Casio does have a couple of things in ITS favour; it is SUPER light at around 25 lbs, and it can run on batteries. Complete with built-in Bluetooth audio and MIDI connectivity, take your playing to the next level with play-along sessions and online lessons.

Now note that you can also go WAY deeper into customizing your piano sounds because the FP-30X is compatible with the Piano Designer app from Roland, which works on a lot of their higher end pianos. Interestingly, many of the sounds on the FP-30X are updated from the sounds from the original FP-30. You change the output volume with two buttons, each for incrementing and decreasing the volume value respectively.

if all you want to do is just sit down and play piano, the FP-10 DOES have the same action so that might be enough for you, and can save you some money. The Roland FP-30X has 56 sounds, including a wide range of piano settings, which can be varied using effects.

Roland’s Wurly and Rhodes-style tones are good as usual, and can range from soft to biting depending on your playing dynamics. But what if your needs are NOT the same as mine and YOU actually DO want Roland’s heavier more realistic piano action, and their Supernatural sound engine? But they might not even be necessary in many situtaions, thanks to surprisingly powerful and punchy onboard speaker systems that offer increasing performance as you move up the range. The onboard speakers are powerful enough for small performances and rehearsals but If you should need more reinforcement, a pair of dedicated stereo output jacks make plugging into a PA or keyboard amp quick and easy.
