About this deal

I am a novice sewer but was very eager to understand the cutting process and the magic of transforming 2D into 3D. The thing that I would note about this book is that it has a fair amount of material geared towards uni students and those wanting to get into the industry. Over the years I've noticed that the date is often missed off each pattern piece (I've done it myself too) and although at the time it may not seem important, you'll see the importance when you've tweaked the pattern 10 times and you don't know which pattern piece was the latest version.

The size charts have been revised to reflect the changes in body sizing, the co–ordination with European size charts and to the way that clothes are now marketed to different sectors. There are bodice blocks, trouser blocks, skirt and dress blocks as well as flat blocks (one that use no shaping with darts.Another process which can be seen as a time-waster is making a toile of your pattern (aka making a prototype in cheap fabric). This first section is also where we are introduced to some tools and pattern making rules about smoothing lines, adding seam allowances and labelling pieces.

This third edition remains true to the original concept, offering a range of good basic blocks with an introduction to the basic principles of pattern cutting. It’s a perfect for beginners as well as those who are new to the industry and I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s asking. The fifth edition continues to offer an introduction to the principles of pattern cutting, with a range of good basic blocks and examples of their application to garments.

hier können sich mal gewisse deutsche "Systeme" (um keine Namen zu nennen) eine Scheibe von abschneiden. I've also found it's super helpful to mark on your waist, hip, knee and elbow lines on each piece as these will come in handy if you're adjusting the fit later on; this means making sure you mark them on your block patterns too. However, the great expansion of casual wear, cut in jersey or stretch fabrics, has led to the growth of ′flat cutting′ with no darting to create the shape and this edition devotes a whole section to this type of cutting. As before we start with some blocks (mostly T-shirts) and move into adaptations like tracksuits, dresses and hoods. Usually, a toile is made from calico or scrap fabric with a similar drape to it (always use a stretch fabric for a stretch pattern, not calico). This best-selling textbook still remains the essential purchase for students and beginners looking to understand pattern cutting and building confidence to develop their own pattern cutting style. It isn't so suitable if you don't have any experience as it *is* a technical book and it does look daunting on first opening because of all the detail inside.

Neuware - Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear provides a straightforward introduction to the principles of form pattern cutting for garments to fit the body shape, and flat pattern cutting for casual garments and jersey wear. The reason that Metric Pattern Cutting is so great is that it covers BOTH of these key skills and waaay more! This fifth edition continues to offer an introduction to the principles of pattern cutting, with a range of good basic blocks and examples of their application to garments. December 2017 - have made my first pair of trousers to my own design and measurements and it was the experience I hoped for. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there is something for every literary palate. Paper scissors - Please don't use your fabric ones they'll get blunt very quickly if you use them for paper!
